Einbeck

to Overview

Picture: As a member of the Hanse (1368) Einbeck was a world-open commercial city in mediaeval times. Around the year 1600 the city had more than 700 houses with brewing right which characterize the image of the city till this day. Discover more than 400 colorful half-timbered buildings, of which more than 120 are late Gothic houses.
Two other buildings are in front to the city hall: The Brodhaus (1552, formerly guild house of the bakers) and the Rats-pharmacy (1590)
However, it is hardly possible to see them without meeting the cunning glance of the rogue Till Eulenspiegel. Standing on a spring, he holds the deplorable dog "Hopf" ("Hop") at his nape, ready to throw him in the cooking broth instead of the hop.

Picture: In the city of the beer, marks of this beverage are left everywhere. At the small "Einbecker Bierologie" you can get a taste of different sorts of Einbecker beer and you can hear an interesting report about the city. Or you can test your knowledge with the beer diploma.
