Bad Karlshafen was founded in 1699 by the earl Carl zu Hessen. Thanks to the earl, the Huguenots, Protestants who fled from France, were able to find a new tolerant city (Bad Karlshafen) where they could stay, as the first settlers of the city. Today, the German Huguenot's centre with museum, genealogist research place, archive and library is in a former tobacco factory. Since 1838 a curative brine helps by application with asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism and sciatica. Guests can use a modern health resort centre with numerous therapy offers and a graduation house.
Canoe tours on the river Weser and the river Diemel, bicycle tours on the Weser cycle path and hiking on the Weserbergland hiking trail offers you the best sport possibilities for active holidays.
Our tip: Visit the Weserbergland Therme! Numerous wellness offers, jacuzzi, brine applications, solarium and gorgeous sauna scenery invite you to relax.
