Impressive castles in the Weser Renaissance style with a thrilling history, invite you to a journey into former epochs.
There is no other place in Germany where you will find such a big conglomeration of castles and other renaissance buildings.

Porzellanmanufaktur Fürstenberg

Picture: One of the oldest porcelain factories of Europe has made the name Fürstenberg famous. At the former hunting seat Fürstenberg, the "white gold” was produced since the year 1747. Today, the museum of the Fürstenberg manufactory is the only porcelain museum in Northern Germany. The Porzellanmanufaktur Fürstenberg produces exquisite ornamental porcelain and porcelain of everyday use.

Castle Polle

Picture: Castle Polle attracts with numerous events like Maibaumaufstellen, pumpkin market at the end of September and the advent market with the biggest advent candle of Northern Germany on the 1st week-end in advent, complemented with the famous Cinderella play on the 3rd Sunday, always at 3.p.m., in the month from May to September, and the Polle castle festival.

Castle Corvey next to Höxter

Picture: Today’s castle and former monastery is famous as a monument, museum and cultural heart of the region. The castle presents a regional museum, an exhibition of the Höxter history as well as the princely library with approximately 74.000 volumes. Beside the constant exhibitions, you can find special exhibitions with different subjects during the year at castle Corvey.

Castle Bückeburg and princely riding school

Picture: The castle Bückeburg has always been the residence of the prince's family to Schaumburg-Lippe. An almost millennial history reflects the earls of Schaumburg-Lippe which later became the princes to Schaumburg-Lippe. Since summer 2006 it is a place of the experience world renaissance. In the inner courtyard you can admire the original renaissance buildings of the year 1560. Throughout the whole year events take place on castle Bückeburg.

Castle Hämelschenburg

Picture: Castle Hämelschenburg is the most important building of the Weser renaissance and forms with its art collections, gardens, buildings and the church one of the most beautiful renaissance buildings of Germany. The castle café with beer garden, an old smithy, a museum shop and art studios on the mill island are looking forward to your visit.

Castle Bevern

Picture: The castle Bevern, one of the most beautiful buildings of the weser renaissance, was built at the beginning of 17-th century from Statius von Münchhausen. Later, the dukes of Braunschweig and Lüneburg used it partly as hunting seat and as residence. Enjoy the SAGEN-NACHT as well as the NÄCHTLICHE SCHLOSS: it’s a multimedia staging in which 400 years of history and stories of castle Bevern are shown.

Dornröschenschloss Sababurg

Picture: The Dornröschenschloss Sababurg, castle of the "Seeping Beauty", invites fairytale fans with castle garden, battlement, climbing of the tower, ruins of the palace and Wurzgarden. The fairy tale walk "Sleeping Beauty" inspires big and small guests with the fairy tales of the brothers Grimm. If you want, you can stay the night in the castle Sababurg because today it is a hotel.

Castle and fortress with museum in Bad Pyrmont

Picture: In the year 1526 a remarkable fortress was built in the Pyrmonter valley whose castle was torn down in the year 1705, after damages of the Thirty Years’ War. From the year 1706-1710, prince Anton Ulrich of Waldeck-Pyrmont gave master builder Korb the job of building the renaissance castle in the style of the baroque classicism. Today the castle is a museum of city and bath history.
